in a unrelated or maybe related issue the battery died as not used for 2 weeks so replaced battery and now fine!!

Will try a standard cd to see if works but if not any suggestions (other than read a map or use your phone ??)

Had few weeks where had a clack clack clack from audio system when starting car or turning off and now says sat nav not available? Will try a standard cd to see if works but if not any suggestions (other than read a map or use your phone ??)

It could be the CD mechanism, or a dirty laser. You could try a lens cleaner CD to see if that helps. If it reads audio CDs (originals, not copies) then the map CD might be damaged.
