Good morning, I am installing a 4CH AMP to replace factory bose in 987 boxster . Looking at the factory amp harness and the speaker wire diagram. The boxster does not have REAR speakers, but the harness (see attachment) shows rear left and right speakers...Blue/blue brown (harness location 26 & 31); and white/white brown (harness location 25 & 30). Amp is installed and running all speakers normally without these two rear blue and white wires connected. Any ideas...Should I connect them spliced into the front speakers? Another thought is that the harness is generic to cayman and Boxster , so perhaps the wires serve no purpose in the Boxster because there are no rear speakers.

The Bose system - depending on the year - used one of two subwoofer designs. One was a powered subwoofer in the passenger footwell (like there was way too much room there - not), the other was a powered subwoofer that replaced the storage bin behind the headrests, over the engine, on the Boxster . The Cayman had speakers fitted to the plastic cross-over piece in the trunk area, and just for fun - Porsche offered for the Boxster speakers that were installed into the storage bins in the unit behind the headrests on top of the engine - these were full range 3" x 2 pers side speakers. Confusing? Yeah. Do those wires have any signal on them when they're not connected to anything - dunno. The way to tell would be to hook a speaker up to them with some clip leads and see. I would NOT bridge them across some other speaker circuit. Bad things might happen, involving smoke coming out of the very expensive Bose amp . At best - Suncoast sells a kit to install the speakers in the storage unit - if you poke around my threads in the 987 electronics section you can see photos of it installed. You might be able to use those outputs with that kit, but before buying the kit - make sure there is a signal on those connectors to the amp.
