Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Outcome without a verified action link

Pulled the radio, disconnected what I think was the MOST fiber from the Dension, reconnected, and it worked again.

POST 1Original post

Searched to no avail, hoping someone has a quick fix. Car has been sitting for a week, and when I hit CD button it usually connects to gateway unit. Today driving first time in a week it just says CDC and then NO CDC. Wondering if low battery may have caused CDC programming that makes head unit think gateway is the CDC to be lost? I didnt have car when installed but I assume the gateway unit is behind the head unit and lower cubby somewhere? Maybe I can reset it? Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

One additional easier-to-answer question that would help me diagnose this for those without a CD changer, if you press the CD button over and over, does it cycle between CDS and CDC, or just stay on CDS? For me, pressing the CD button toggles between single CD player and CD changer. I assume if the CDR24 didn’t know I had a (fake) changer, it wouldn’t toggle between these two? if this is the case, then the problem is definitely the Dension and not the CDR24 needing to be programmed to recognize the CDC?

POST 3Original post

Posting this as potential future reference for someone. Pulled the radio, disconnected what I think was the MOST fiber from the Dension, reconnected, and it worked again. Initially radio just said “Porsche “ in the digital readout and wouldn’t operate but I guess that is normal. Turned it all off and waited a few mins and it was fine. My gateway unit is apparently pretty old, so I can’t find a reference to it online. I pulled the fuses to the power outlets but that didn’t cut power to it. Not sure where it draws power from. Anyway, all good again. Might be time to look at PCCM+.
