Hi all.
On start up my 987 instrument clusters analog dials don't work, digital speedo reads 0 but digital displays work fine.
Whats strange is if I take out the B1 15amp Fuse then reinstall, everything jumps back to working completely fine until I turn engine off then I'm back to cluster not working until I pull the fuse and reinstall.
any advice or possible reason for this strange issue would be very much welcomed

First thing I would do is replace the mentioned fuse for a new one. It could be faulty. If that doesn't help I'm afraid I've got nothing. Good luck.
Another crazy idea - if the battery is weak, the voltage may be dropping to a weird/low/bad level during startup, causing the IC to lose its mind. Honestly, LOTS of weird things happen on these cars when the battery is even a little weak. How old is it? Has it ever been dead?
On a somewhat related note: I had my instrument cluster go dead on me twice last week while I was in the process of installing a new radio. In both cases it was after removing and unplugging the PSM control and the A/C control from the center console stack. I noticed the lack of instruments while going on an errand and test drive. Oddly, both times the situation cleared itself. It hasn't happened since I put it all back together.
BTW, in both cases I got some partial display back while driving by turning the clock/dimmer switch. I don't remember which function worked. And the outage included both the digital displays and the tac/speedo dials.
thanks for the idea, will double check battery but the battery is only 2 years old plus I trickle charge.
the issue is with the cluster I would say as today I tested by pulling the rear connector plug to the cluster out then reinserting, once reinsurted the cluster works perfect.
here is a video of me plugging the cluster back in, as you can see everything works fine but after you turn off the engine or egnition I'm back to the dials not working but everything else is fine like the displays are fine.
if anybody knows of the reason for this and what relay or other parts on the board is at fault so I cab replace, that would be fantastic.
thanks
Did you ever resolve this issue? I now have it
