Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am probably already on the border having fitted 200cell cats, BMC filter and CAI, RSS engine mounts, under-drive pulley and soon a LWFW!
Leading evidence: 'Install 200cell cats, bmc filter and cai, rss engine mounts' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Trouble is I can't bed in and test the new LSD until I resolve the engine issue first.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Started work on my oil leaks today, first job was the leaking plug tubes.
They were old and very brittle, I was as careful as I could be with them and was successful on the first 2 but disaster struck on the last tube which broke coming out.
The broken plastic fell in the head.
I understand the cam caps are part of the cover. Could you direct me to the best manual for instructions and TDC Cam Locking Tools to take the cam cover off in situ.
Many thanks all
Wow that is cheap
It doesn’t look like it has enough bits in it for cam cover removal?
I saw this :
Porsche Timing Locking Tool Camshaft 911(996,997) / Boxster (986,987) 1996 2012 | eBay UK
Porsche Boxster (engine codes 986/987) up to 2002. 1 pc- Connecting Rod Centering Mandrel (factory number 9608). 1 pc- Camshaft Lock (factory number 9612) – To establish the allocation between the intake and exhaust camshafts.

If you're not pulling the cams then I think you 'just' need to get the tool to hold the cams on the head when the cover is removed. This is a bit of angle iron with two bolts in it which engage with the cams. Locking the crank would be wise too but if you're not turning over the engine then I guess it wouldn't be strictly necessary?
Which bank is it? I understand (not done it myself, just working up to it!) that one side is more doable than the other due to the subframe clashing with the timing tools - but if you're not touching the timing it may prove to be easier. You will certainly need some of the green cam plugs which are available online from the or supplier which is a decent chunk cheaper than direct from Porsche.
Please do document your findings.

A little engine work today due to a noise. Trouble is I can't bed in and test the new LSD until I resolve the engine issue first. So incase you ever need to, here is a little guide on Tappet (hydraulic lifter) replacement:
Here are the parts and tools I ordered:
If the engine is installed, then you need to strip away exhaust, manifold, brackets, coil packs... to gain access and clean away any debris/oil stains...:
You'll then need to drain the...

This post is very useful - but as I say if you're just removing the cover your scope is somewhat reduced.

I keep having re-occurring thoughts about making my 98 C2 a little more interesting and focused. Problem is it really is a beautiful car and has all the right bits and pieces (Full Hartech, PSE, M030, OEM trick diff, 997SSK, 10speaker system incl door woofers...) so I don't want to potentially ruin it.
I am probably already on the border having fitted 200cell cats, BMC filter and CAI, RSS engine mounts, under-drive pulley and soon a LWFW!
Question I have is, if I try to retain the creature comforts that make it a semi-practical family car (carpets, rear seats, elec windows...) but...

As I understand it from back of car
123 are near side 456 are off side
It’s cylinder no.1 that broke
I’ve only done near side so far, Access is hampered a little bit by the back box bracket but it’s easy to work around it.
In the process of stripping the other side so I’ll find out if it’s any different
