Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I did that, but it caused another warning (red exclamation point) to come on, but more reading and I learned that this can happen after disconnecting the battery and it will go out after some driving.

Suggestion

I’ve pulled my instrument cluster to change out the gauge faceplate, and with patience and finesse you can disassemble the cluster and replace the LCD strip, but be forewarned, it not for the faint of heart.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I have a 2008 Cayman base. Recently I had an engine light come on after filling up with gas, and I figured it out it was due to a loose gas cap. I cleaned the gas cap and reinstalled, and then I cleared the code with my OBD2 scanner. The light still didn't go out, so I read that I should disconnect the battery and then reconnect. I did that, but it caused another warning (red exclamation point) to come on, but more reading and I learned that this can happen after disconnecting the battery and it will go out after some driving. It did go out, but then I noticed this strange yellow symbol behind my digital speedometer readout. I can't find any reference to it in the manual, and I'm wondering if my display is beginning to fail? Have any of you seen this odd symbol before? Disregard the TPC warning symbol, it's unrelated (I have the parts and just need to have the tires pulled to fix that). I don't think the yellow blob is really a symbol, since it's behind the MPH display and can't really be seen clearly...that's why I think it may be a display issue.

POST 2Original post

You are correct in that the display is failing. I've seen the part sold separately on either eBay or Amazon or AliExpress . If I find the link I will post it. I think eBay is where I saw it. Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk

Do you know the part number?? If so, I can go fishing...

POST 4Original post

yes, you can repair it yourself or have them perform the LCD replacement Check out taninautoelectronix (dot)com

POST 5Original post

If you feel up to it, the LCD wafer/strip for lack of the correct term can be done DIY. There are a few videos on YouTube showing how it’s done. I’ve pulled my instrument cluster to change out the gauge faceplate, and with patience and finesse you can disassemble the cluster and replace the LCD strip, but be forewarned, it not for the faint of heart. Watch the videos several times, wear latex gloves or similar to avoid leaving body oil or smudges on circuit boards and solder joints. Or simply send it out to one of the companies that specialize in these jobs. They usually get around $350 or so.
