Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
The problem with all these mounts using buttons, vents or switches, is that the phone covers them.
Leading evidence: 'Use buttons, vents or switches, is' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use buttons, vents or switches, is' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Since there are usually blanks on most cars, it seemed like a reasonable use of space.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have the 2 piece in the car at the moment, and it has worked nicely so far.
Not sure if this is the right place really, but after seeing this -

I decided to modify it to make it a phone ball mount for either the radio surround OR the heated seats control (the mount is slightly different between them as the heated seats one is much, much tighter). Since there are usually blanks on most cars, it seemed like a reasonable use of space.
I made it as either one piece or as a clip in mount to the USB adapter above (which means other things could be made to clip in, and ignore the two side holes, they will be filled in on the final 2 piece). Currently printed in white, but I will do it in black PETG for the final one for my car. You still need the magnet end, although I could make that as well, I just had one already so decided to use it.
Happy to share the STL's if anyone is interested. Specifically for a 996 or 986.
Not bad! I was toying with doing the same with the hazard switch and maybe relocating that to the horseshoe. Keeps the phone nice and high in the driver's eyeline for navigation... Let's see if I get time!
The problem with all these mounts using buttons, vents or switches, is that the phone covers them. So the phone effectively disrupts the usability of the cars equipment. Just seems like a fundamental flaw in any design.
This is fair, but particularly older cars were not designed with a phone in mind so there are compromises. IMO, I am only covering two buttons that would be rarely used, particularly while driving and since the mount is magnetic, the phone can be swiveled out of the way.
As said above ,brilliant use of switch blanks.
There is one for the hazard switch , good for phone in landscape

on the drivers, most of them are blank
and how often are these actually used or it's hard to slip a finger in to turn the button on
in my tests this works fine
Well it's definitely covering heated rear window and central locking which also means heated mirrors. Some people have the targa switch as a gate opener. You can choose between 12v socket and cup holder and vent depending how high you want it. You really want it as close to the eye line as you can though.
I just don't like compromises. It's possible to get it high without covering anything. Maybe someone can print off a nicer looking bracket than the one I have.
Sure! Attached the single piece and 2 piece in a zip. I have amended the ball mount slightly to make it stronger, I found with PLA moving the magnet piece about it could make the ball break off.
