Suggestion

The boards aren't inexpensive - they're about the same as replacing the entire unit with a modern Android based headunit.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

My 2010 Cayman has had the PCM replaced with an aftermarket double din. I want to reinstall the PCM 3.0 but the person who installed the aftermarket unit cut the OEM plug off. Where can I get a replacement plug /harness or will I have to rewire something up?

POST 2Original post

Following - have the exact same issue.. and if Porsche releases the "new" classic PCM for the 987.2 series I might be tempted..

POST 3Original post

I did solve the issue - but I'm guessing you've already addressed it. I visited a foreign car parts junkyard and grabbed one off a wreck. Mine had been similarly hacked - I had the connector but it only had 1" stubs of wire on it, and it would have been about impossible to splice it back together in the radio opening. I pulled it as far out as I could (it wasn't easy to get to) and leaned in with some sheet-metal shears and grabbed it - 6" of wire left on it. Plenty to make splicing it back together easier. They did have one other car that probably had it (I didn't see it, but the guy managing the place seemed to think they still had it.) Unfortunately - this wasn't something they'd bother pulling out for me - it was a DIY parts gathering. Perhaps there is a similar junkyard near you....

POST 4Original post

I came across a forum where it was mentioned that upgrading to PCM 3.0 effectively adds CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, as well as wireless connectivity, to the head unit. It seems like a great upgrade option.

POST 5Original post

I believe that's the case if you modify the PCM 3.0 and add a board inside the unit to provide that function.. The boards aren't inexpensive - they're about the same as replacing the entire unit with a modern Android based headunit.
