Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
does this really only occur on cars that have had replacement windscreens (if you're not the first & only owner of the car, you can't always tell whether the screen has been replaced)?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

They were willing to fund it so it made no difference to me.

I save some minor bubbling on the roof runner guide, just by the windscreen. Is this a common fault and would I be covered under the longlife warranty? The car has has had the 2 years inspections?
Thanks for your help...
You should be covered, provided there is no evidence of either a stone chip or scratch in the vacinity, and that its not near the windscreen seal as thye'll claim its damage caused during a screen change
Odd that you should mention bubbling near the windscreen seal, and Porsche's immediate disclaimer that it must be as a result of a windscreen replacement...
I have this on my C4, and that's exactly what the OPC said.
Never had bubbling before on any car that has had a windscreen replaced...
I'm just curious...
have a lot of people encountered bubbling around the seal?
does this really only occur on cars that have had replacement windscreens (if you're not the first & only owner of the car, you can't always tell whether the screen has been replaced)?
If so, is the 996 (and presumably the Boxster) particularly vulnerable to damage while removing a windscreen due to the way it's bonded in?

Snap... I've some minor bubbling on drivers side roof runner beside the slots front and back. She's booked in for a service this week, so hopefully I'll get the dealers take on the subject.
They can't claim it's due to glass replacement due to location of the bubbling...
My insurer did suggest that if the windscreen needed replacement, that I go to an OPC rather than call out the well-known mobile firms. They were willing to fund it so it made no difference to me.
I guess this is another reason to do so - imagine the exchange!
"Ah well, sir, that's not covered as it results from damage done while replacing the windscreen"
"Oh dear. So do you think I should approach the outfit who did the replacement then"
"Oh yes, sir. Totally their fault. Who was it, by the way?"

Two years ago I had my windscreen damaged and replaced under insurance. They sent me to my OPC. My OPC sen me to Autoglass.
They did a brilliant job and even had the windscreen in stock.
