Reported cause

Fixing the issue is simple, the control system needs to be activated during a subsequent bleed, but that requires a Porsche specific tool to activate it.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2005 Porsche 996 4s Bleeding my brakes with a pressure bleeder. Wife comes to get me for family emergence.,Rush in doors,When i return to car i left brake nipple undone a tiny bit and you guest it all brake fluid drained out. What is best action now as got air in abs and psm pump

POST 2Original post

You need a Porsche specific scan tool like the Durametric system to activate the ABS/PSM system during the bleeding process to get the air out. Nothing else will work.

POST 3Original post

Is it possible that because ABS was not activated during the inadvertent pressure draining, that the ABS portion of the circuit did not drain?

The ABS/PSM control system and pump are one of the highest locations in the braking network, and where air collects when the system is allowed to gravity drain. Fixing the issue is simple, the control system needs to be activated during a subsequent bleed, but that requires a Porsche specific tool to activate it.

This just probably means that the vacuum in the vacuum boost system leaked down when the engine was off. You are going to need a Durametric or to take it to a shop. If the shop is close and without a lot of potential for panic stops, you can probably drive the car there, just be careful and allow for extra braking distance in case a panic stop surprises you.
