Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

it's purely a road car so am assuming some Dot 4 will be ok? I am changing the brake lines to stainless steel at same time hopefully better pedal feel and bite??

POST 5Original post

You must use DOT4 or DOT5.1 DOT5 was a great invention in the 80s to prevent the absorption of water, however it's incompatible with ABS systems. Mine's full of DOT4 that only cost a few pounds. Even the high melting point track fluids are usually only DOT4. Any fresh fill of even the cheapest DOT4 will outperform any other fluid that's a year or two old and had the time to absorb moisture from the atmosphere. Using more of an inexpensive fluid means that you can keep flushing during the change and get a better result at the end.
