Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

A few years ago someone on this forum (I think it was Wasz) did a repair, seemed to work well and didn’t look too difficult if you can weld & fabricate the ends that rust.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The silencer support brackets on my car have seen better days. I’m looking at options for replacement, does anyone have any experience with this? Can they be easily repaired? It looks like 90% of it is stainless steel apart from the bolt mounting surface which isn’t, hence the corrosion. New price isn’t disastrous for Porsche genuine parts, it looks quite time consuming to produce so I can see where the money goes. Seems a simple job for a skilled fabricator but once you factor in material and labour maybe it’s a pointless exercise? I’m thinking I might cut out and clean up the corrosion and try and just utilise the mounting holes without the support piece. Any feedback welcome. Many thanks

Always try OPC before D911 - they are nearly always more expensive and sometimes you get 10% discount if you say you are a PCGB member
