This is not a probability of success.

I recently swapped the brake pads, retaining "springs" and pins but I'm at a loss as to what these two extra split pins are for (the small ones).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently swapped the brake pads, retaining "springs" and pins but I'm at a loss as to what these two extra split pins are for (the small ones). None came off the brakes when I took them apart but it wouldn't be the first time I've taken things off a car and found bits missing. They're part of the OE Match kit for item 15 in the diagram. Neither the OE Match or Porsche original photos show them on the Design911 page and they don't feature in the diagram. All I can think of is they're supposed to stop the wear sensor wire popping out of the clip on the spring as that's got two small holes in it, but can't work out how. Plus I had to fight the old one out, I'd be amazed if it could just fall out.

POST 2Original post

I can confirm that you don’t get those in the OEM kit. I would throw them away and not worry about it, if it were me.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, I'll use them as small hair clips, or maybe picking tiny locks or something.
