Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Evening all! For the past few months I've randomly had issues with opening the trunk. It works perfectly and then after using the car for the day it starts playing up. I try from key fob and interior release button and can hear the mechanism but it won't release. I can lock and unlock fine but the trunk release just won't work. I've realised that if I leave it for thirty minutes or so and try it works perfectly. Is this a known common fault? My two thoughts are (1) the solenoid is on the way out, or (2) simply from the summer heat retarding the solenoid (compounded by car being black) and once it cools down once parked in shade it works again as normal... random I know, but can't think why else this would happen. Any thoughts / explanations are welcome! Thanks all, John.
