Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, thank you, I am still stuck here, removing of the side vents is easy so is removing sun sensor cover, but then..
Hi,
The wood trim on the defroster panel is falling apart and peeling off, so I need to replace it. The issue is, how do I remove it? Removing the side vents is easy, but what’s the next step? Do I really need to remove the A-pillar, or can I just loosen it slightly where it meets the defroster trim? Is it possible to wiggle the defroster trim out after removing the vent?
From the photos I’ve seen, it looks like there’s just one big clip on the side of the defroster trim where it meets the pillar/vent.
Any tips would be helpful. Thank you!
Hi, thank you, I am still stuck here, removing of the side vents is easy so is removing sun sensor cover, but then.. nothing moves a bit, it holds there like glued...
For future generations who need to remove the defroster trim:
Remove the air vent
– This part is easy. Just three screws and it comes right out.
Remove the A-pillar
– This is where I got stuck. Most forums say you need to remove the sun visor, B-pillar, coat hook, etc.
You do NOT need to do that.
Removing the A-pillar is easy and safe: simply unclip it and slide it out from the clip attached to the side of the defroster trim.
Pry out the defroster trim
using plastic tools. Start from the middle. The right side came off easily on my car, but the left side was holding on like crazy — still, it
is
doable.
Use masking tape
on the lower part of the A-pillar. Removing the air vent can scratch it a bit if it’s not protected.
Oof, it was quite stressful (feels like something’s going to break at any moment), but it was worth it in the end!
