Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I say it quite often on here but I don't understand why these bolts are not recommended to be changed by the specialist garages that service them before they corrode to the point of no return?!

I should stress the impact gun was set on its lowest setting with no chance of snapping the head off if it was stuck

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I found this little film I made for my brother in the US
It just shows what a new cars manifold bolts look like and how easily they come out
This was a couple of years ago and the car had about 10k miles on it but it is 20yrs old!
I should stress the impact gun was set on its lowest setting with no chance of snapping the head off if it was stuck
Just noticed someone on here looking fora Stomski Jig to help drill these out on a regular M96 engine I would think.
Yours look really good too..what's the mileage?
Mine is a 2005 with 15k miles
I wonder if they're less likely to seize in a Mezger engine
I changed mine in 2011 and they've stayed good because I don't use the car in the salt at all, and it's stored in a decent warmish garage. Car is 2005 my and has 71k!

Hopefully this will work

I think you're right the turbo's don't suffer as much as the NA's but I have seen a few with snapped bolts.

Maybe I should put a warning post in the 991 section as they are of the age where it's not too late!

Really interesting to see your car's bolts looking so good at 71K , they're no different to mine.
I'm not sure driving in the winter would be any worse as the threads are so hot and protected I can't see how salty water would get into them.
I've applied Molykote to all the important bolts on the Turbo and the C2.
