Hi all,
Please let me start by saying I am a new member and a new owner of the caymans S. I am overtaken by joy from the car... and am very appreciate of this site and the members!
Regarding Phone options, my car already contains navigation and most everything. But being as money doesnt grow on trees, its a bit to pricey for me to drop a few thousand to get a phone option in my car. --
I was wondering what alternative options are there to getting it from porsche? Is there a 3rd party manufacture that I can go to? Or is the Motorola bluetooth device which was suggested on this forum the best alternative option?
Thank you,
Merssii
Can I encourage you NOT to use a phone in this car while driving? You will be missing out on the minute by minute fun plus the car is so responisve that even good drivers swerve all over the place while trying to concentrate on a phone conversation and steer/shift/anticipate/brake/clutch/be aware. If not try searching here for some other ideas.
Cars are for driving, not for talking. Keep yourself and others safe.

I don't know where I read it, but I remember reading that using your mobile phone while driving is like driving drunk. It didn't matter whether you had an ear piece or using the speaker. You lose concentration when you answer your phone. I never answer my phone while driving unless it's an emergency and I have to pull over or stuck in traffic and there is absolutely no movement. Keep yourself and others safe. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thumbsup.gif
With PCM (and module for 'hands-free') you can use a SIM-card phone. I plan ot get PCM in my CS, and will switch to a SIM-card phone so I can talk in my car.
I can understand why people are against other people speaking on the phone while driving. The CS is going to be my daily driver, and I opted for PCM so I could speak 'hands-free'.
Why don't we start a thread that says: 'which phones work with PCM Nav?'

I also have a VW Golf and fitted a Parrot CK3100. Brilliant system. I do not know if it is available in the US but check out

AMEN! Drive the car! Listen to it! Feel it! Turn off the radio! And, for crying out loud, stay off the phone! Cell phones are one of the worst things to happen to our society.
Thank you for your worry and consideration, but I live in Los angeles where speaking on your cell phone while stuck in traffic is a must. Probably different then driving with it in other cities I would believe.
'Each year, there are nearly 200,000 traffic collisions in Los Angeles County ' perhaps there is a correlation? At least you have the 'tip' which will remove several requirements competingfor your concentration. If not for a very good bicycle helmet a handsfree cellphone 'driver' would have removed me from the planet so I must admit to some bias.
Although not in a Cayman, I have a MOT 1000 and the thing rocks. Handles up to four BT phones.
A bluetooth wireless headset is the cheapest way to go. Why pay around $1000 for this phone module? Ouch!
