Hi there i have purchased a second hand roof for my 996 convertible, on replacement the rear quarter lights have stopped working any ideas i have replaced the complete roof and not just recovered.

It could be a microswitch problem. I had a similar issue with mu first 996 cab and it was a broken micro switch. It might not be the same with your but it is a place to start looking.

The microswitch is where there roof locking mechanism in the centre locks the roof. It is not part of the roof, it's the catch above the rear view mirror. Yor replacement roof is most likely not moving the locking hook in far enough to engage the microswitch. Put the roof down, press your finger hard in where the hook goes in the catch and whilst pressed in, try the rear windows.

Would that allow us to have the rear windows up with the roof down?? Can you drive like that? The kids often moan it’s too cold in the back and having the rear windows up might assist with that!!

Yes. You can override it by doing it by hand. Hold the flap in, then put the rears up. Nifty little trick
