Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. unless you have 996.2 GT3 Clubsport RS where to save a 225 grams on each side, they just fitted covers, with the cable connection still there !

I repurposed some used front dash grilles for my aftermarket speakers and placed them in the rear.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
I have an issue with my dashboard speaker grilles — the wood trim ones on top are falling apart. I have a standard painted Savannah pair at the rear, and they appear to be the same shape on the outside.
Is it possible to swap them, or are they a different shape?
Thank you!
a good question, because they do look identical and it's highlight likely they are based on how these cars were built back them
only one way to find out !
Pretty sure that the dashboard speakers have the tweeter angled so as to clear the other stuff under the dash. The ones on my cab were certainly different
I think they’re the same, but I didn’t pay attention to the angle of the tweeter between the front and the rear.
The grilles each have a marking “L” or “R” to indicate left or right, but nothing about their fore-aft position. I suppose it’ll be okay as long as you adhere to the left and right markings. Even if you do misplace the left with the right, I don’t think there would be a noticeable difference in sound quality, but I also am not an audiophile.
I repurposed some used front dash grilles for my aftermarket speakers and placed them in the rear. The tweeters of those speakers were placed above the cone so I didn’t worry about the OEM tweeter positions. Physically, the grilles will bolt in all positions securely.
I’m 99% sure they are the same. They are only a couple of screws to pop them out and try a swap. Or do some research of images / part numbers on ebay.
These are my old 4 speakers which all look identical - can you tell which were in the front? Swapped for Alpines using the ebay spacer kits (these kits are front/rear specific)
Hmm, if I recall, I'm sure they are handed and specific for dash and door cards.
They have a twist/curve in the door cards so they don't sit in the dash. Having read the above post I'm sure this is what I encountered but I'm not sure now.
Just try the dash speakers in the door card to find out and vice versa.
I've got a full set of leather covered grills, but I could only get door card speakers and they didn't fit in the dash. Ended up picking the leather off and recovering my dash speakers.
I had to buy them blind whilst I was overseas, so found out when I got home to try and fit them!
There are also 3 types. Standard, Haes and Bose, not too mention grill colour!
There are 2 types. Ones for integrated speakers and one for speakers with separate woofers and tweeters. All depends on what system was fitted but as a rule, they'll most likely be same for front and rear.
Integrated ones:
Separate woofer/tweeter ones:
I was thinking more in terms of matching the speaker to your current system. Unless ahaes can be used with bose.
Haes speaker frames are moulded with the speaker, but bose are easier to repurpose to a new speaker.

Dash right: 99664598402VRK
Card left: 99664598806VRK

Is a bit confusing though as left is listed on the right for -04, so not sure what that means.
