That and my lad recently fitted a set to an E36 and he says its much firmer in the bends without any loss of comfort.
Leading evidence: 'Install set' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install set' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Can’t help with your dampers, I’ve had b6 Billy’s and been happy but currently running pss10s.

While I wont use the 996 if there is any chance of salt on the road it will get used sometimes in the rain.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello, I am new to this forum.
I have a 996.2 C2 with 62k miles which I have had for a few months. Its my first 996 but my 7th Porsche.
Next on my job list is to refresh some of the suspension.
Looks like I need new front coffin arms but before I figure which to buy I want to decide on replacement dampers.
I have had Koni sport on a few cars before and like the ride quality. I could order those as a kit with the lowering springs although I wonder if a 30mm drop could be excessive or not. The car is used for fast road / touring and not tracked.
The other option is the BC coilovers which offer adjustment but may not have the same blend of performance and comfort?
Then will come the question of which coffins to order. Make and if standard length are best.
Welcome any feed back from users of either.
Thanks Rob
Thanks Steve,
Looking at the various sellers of the coffin arms, its hard to see what if any difference there is from the pictures other than price. Seen a pair for £63 which look no different to others which are £78 each.
Most appear unbranded.
Are there any bad reports?
Listed on their site and with various other shops for slightly less.

Spyder provide arms from the same production line as the oem units, so essentially the same part but without the porsche part number (or so they say).
I've put them on both my 996's and been more than happy.
That maybe true with Spyder, its just in the images they look identical to the lower cost ones. There cannot be many different factories turning these out?
@RetroRob
please let us know what you think of the BCs when you’ve fitted them. I’m also looking at Koni SA’s but like the idea of having the ride height and damping adjustment of the BCs. My only concern would be that they’re too stiff for our rough British roads, but that could be a preconception I have about coilovers.
Actually when you look at the price of the Konis with springs and top mounts, the BCs are cheaper too.
Will do. I read a few posts re 997s with positive reports on the BC which swung me.
That and my lad recently fitted a set to an E36 and he says its much firmer in the bends without any loss of comfort.
Different car but together it was enough for me to order.
I have Nitrons on my Caterham 7 which were a vast improvement over the standard billys on poor roads but I didn't want to spend that much on the 996.
While I wont use the 996 if there is any chance of salt on the road it will get used sometimes in the rain.
The Caterham is a sunny day car only.
at spring rates come on the BC. ive had BC on other cars for track work and have been rough on the road but great on track. I've been though 5 different setups on mine. its half decent now.
I've had a set of Nitrons on mine for just over a month and ordered the third set of springs yesterday!
Not an issue with Nitron, I wanted a softer rate than standard which they supplied. However the softer rate makes them prone to spring bind so having experimented with both Nitron's rate and mine, I prefer mine and have ordered longer variants to deal with the issue I created! Its impossible to work some of these things out in advance sometimes without full engineering drawings, and I can understand why these aren't available.
The Nitrons on my 7 I ordered via meteor motorsport as custom spec. They have a dyno so they spring and valve to suit. The cost was only a few hundred more than ordering the standard spec nitrons direct.
Not sure if they offer this for all cars though.
