Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I've been told the latest engines are so well made that 200k would be possible. From the quality of the engineering it must last longer than most 'normal' car engines. Especially with decent oil changed reguarly.

POST 2Original post

I don't think there's anything to worry about with the engine or the electrics. If the previous owner was a really brutal hasher the gearbox might have suffered a little, but any good Porsche dealer should be able to give a verdict after driving it.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

...if I wanted to hang onto my impending 996 (48k miles on the clock, tiptronic) for a long time, with regular servicing and no abuse, how long/many miles until an engine rebuild/overhaul would be required? I'm not planning (at the moment) to ever sell it - especially as high miles kills the market value, so all advice/opinions would be appreciated. Are there any other (expensive) things that can go wrong, e.g. transmission/electrics etc.?
