Suggestion

That being said ,I've had 2 sets of coilovers and various springs and respective valving, and I'd recommend either buying just springs for street use (less than 1" drop) and refresh dampeners when needed, or if coilovers keeping the springs to 225lb front and 300lb rear.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hey all! Hope everyone had a nice Christmas and good start to the new year! Following my annual pilgrimage in 2024 to the Nurburgring, the first time in the Cayman , although it handled great, I felt it lacked just a little. So, a while back I asked on here if anyone had fitted Bilstein B16 Damptronis as I was after some real world feedback, what I got back was they perform very well! I took the plunge and brought some (bankrupting myself in the process!😆). I also brought polly bushed coffin arms for front and rear plus, polly bushed tuning forks for the front. As much as I wanted, I couldn’t afford the GT3 camber adjustable arms. I have H&R anti roll bars to go on too (front and rear) and while in there, all top mounts, droplinks will be replaced. This will be started in March when I’ve recouped some funds! All of this will hopefully make a massive difference for when I head back to the Nurburgring later this year! I’ll keep this post updated with progress and pics…. thanks for the advice so far!

POST 2Original post

Its expensive I did it with the GT3 control arms on all 4 corners, it really makes a difference on track if you know how to drive, good luck with the project.

POST 3Original post

I would have loved the GT3 arms, I know sometime in the future, I’m going to end up getting some and it will cost me twice as much… 🤦🏽‍♂️

POST 4Original post

The way I justified the costs for the GT3 arms is that I'd probably kill the outer edge of multiple sets of tires which would end up costing more than the arms... That's man math...

POST 5Original post

I get the man math, somehow used that to justify buying the coilovers… just need to try and explain myself to the missus!😆

POST 6Original post

the B16s are a lovely upgrade and with the height being adjustable you can get the stance that you want! you know the holy trinity includes brakes and tyres next

POST 7Original post

Can’t wait to get started! Hopefully the final bits will be here soon then the upgrades can begin!🥳 Luckily, tire wise I’m already running Pilot Sport 4S and, I have a set of Endless MX72 Plus pads to go in on the fronts, keeping the EBC Yellows in the rear. Braided lines have also been done 🙂

POST 8Original post

yes the mx72s are pretty good without making too much noise... I have them on my other car. will probably get them for the 987 as well. my only real complaint is that they are just as dusty as the OEM pads!

POST 9Original post

So, update to the install! Call from garage who are doing the work…. Firstly, every single bolt was seized on and a royal pain to remove…. Second, my subframe is extremely corroded and has a crack in it!! All of a sudden, this install has been a whoooole lot more expensive!!😣

POST 10Original post

Some of those parts you weren't able to afford only come into play if 1) yours are worn due to mileage or 2) you're lowering beyond approximately 3/4" and thus need to correct geometry. That being said ,I've had 2 sets of coilovers and various springs and respective valving, and I'd recommend either buying just springs for street use (less than 1" drop) and refresh dampeners when needed, or if coilovers keeping the springs to 225lb front and 300lb rear. If using for track, or versatility, then it gets much more involved. Sorting my boxsters suspension for street was one of the most time consuming and challenging cars I've had to deal with.

POST 11Original post

Ouch. So far the hardware on my 2012 has disassembled perfectly. US south east car.

POST 12Original post

Across the street, #2 diesel $6.40. I'm in Santa Cruz County, CA., but I never look at diesel prices, but oooh my. The former Valero franchise, in Felton, switched over to Shell, they are great folks!

POST 13Original post

Soooooo, she’s back!! After leaving a very hefty hole in my wallet (still need to explain to the missus the extra cost!!) I got the car back today! What a transformation! Those Bilstein Damptronic are great, way firmer than stock but not too harsh… switch to sport and she’s asking to be thrown around!! H&R anti roll bars and polly bushed coffin arms also installed followed by a ride height check, corner weight and geo set up… Apart from the front subframe saga, I’m very happy and can’t wait to get back to the Nurburgring!👏🏽👏🏽

POST 14Original post

Oh that's going to be an amazing transformation! I'm so envious of you that you can just drive to the Nurburgring.

POST 15Original post

it does feel great, huge improvement on before. She just feels way more planted. We are lucky with being able to drive to the Nurburgring, takes 9ish hours but absolutely worth it!
