Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

To top it off, I replaced the worthless CDR-220 with a nice nakamichi with bluetooth and USB.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Heard a rattle behind my shelf.
Removed it to find this! Judging by it's size, I'm guessing it used to be where the AC controller currently sits. Is there a frame for it so that I could mount it above the AC controller? Id rather not have it jiggling back there, and head unit doesnt work without it.
I ran across this pic. It looks like there is a mounting plate available, but I have no idea on the part number. It looks like your climate controls are in the same one, but obviously with the curving sides that is only good for that position.
Can you secure it behind the dash? It's really not that useful.
I put in a new HU and amp, getting rid of the entire lower section. I think the interior looks much cleaner now.
What year is your 996?
Either the storage cubby or the cupholders were added, so the DSP unit which should be at the bottom of the stack got demoted. I don't know where to find a trim ring.
You can do what I did in the following thread if you want to keep the DSP unit hidden without having the entire thing stuck in the console:
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...le-delete.html
In addition to making the unit much smaller, this also eliminates all of the buttons (so they can't rattle) and is completely reversible (if you don't lose the parts). Once I minimized the size of the DSP unit, I tucked it above the foam liner above the passenger footwell.
The lower console delete is a godsend. I'd love to have an aftermarket nav unit, but not at the expense of having to reinstall the lower console. My right shin and knee LOVE the console delete.
I fit snug in the driver seat, so no issues there, but the gt3 delete kit makes the interior look more appealing. It looks 'more at home.' That entire lower piece looks like an afterthought. Just not sure if I'm willing to sacrifice the cup holders and shelf since this is my DD.
I did what Schnell did on my 2001.
First I located a GT3 console delete kit, then took the DSP out of its shell and velcro'd it to a plastic HVCA duct behind the Delete panel. To top it off, I replaced the worthless CDR-220 with a nice nakamichi with bluetooth and USB. Perfectly tolerable solution now....
