I borrowed this photo from Rennlist, I’m beginning to agree my problem is a chain guide pad issue.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Today I did an oil change and was glad to see no metal shavings anywhere, however I did notice something weird. There appeared to be some reddish rubbery material in the filter, they were very thin. What you see in the photos are the extent of what I recovered from the oil filter.
At the time of the last oil change the IMS was done, the RMS was and they replaced the torque seal, and replaced the coolant overflow tank.
Can any of these service items be the source of these rubbery items?
EDIT
: It was suggested it could be gasket sealer material.
Yeah pretty soon. You don’t want one to break apart completely or any of those pieces to block any oil passages.
How much rattle do you get on that first cold morning start after not driving for a day or so?
Thanks for being patient with me guys. I have a better photo below. As you can see the material is VERY thin. As thin as a sheet of paper and it is elastic. It stretches a bit.
if it is chain guide pad material there wasn’t very much of it collected in the filter.
I’ll let you work through your seven stages at your own pace lol…
It’s good you’re not getting that chatter/rattle. But I literally recognize that first photo as a piece of the vario tensioner. And those thin pieces get squished and then cut off by the chain as the guide wears. You have A LOT of pieces for one oil change.
I sent you a PM with my recommendation.
