The extra power was great but the best bit for me was I installed their "Sequential" PDK tune which made the gearstick forwards for downgear and backwards for upgears.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have enjoyed my 981 Spyder for almost 10 years now... And nothing's persuaded me to change it - save the Spyder RS has pushed me very close...! I've driven a SRS twice now, but can't get my head around the - cost v benefit - to swap out. Plus I'd likely miss a manual box and be slightly frustrated with the roof. But it showed me how easily the 981-718 platform can swallow 500hp. So... I am wondering if anyone has any positive experiences of ECU tuning to bring my 981 to 400hp? Any thoughts / observations welcome please?

POST 2Original post

I think to get best results it will be more than an ECU tune a bit of hardware is also involved, 430hp is possible, I believe ChrisW did this to his 981Gt4 if not a bit of searching will give you answers.

POST 3Original post

400bhp probably ok but don't forget the 981 Spyder unlike the 981 GT4 didn't have the GT3 brakes and front end. Standard Pirelli tyres too.

POST 4Original post

981 spyder doesn’t need more power. It’s perfectly set for road and touring, great car!

POST 5Original post

I had my 981 S cayman tuned. I used COBB. I ran their Stage 1 tune and PDK tune for about a year and then fitted headers and ran their Stage 2 tune. The extra power was great but the best bit for me was I installed their "Sequential" PDK tune which made the gearstick forwards for downgear and backwards for upgears. You buy the accessport device and the maps are free, I was lucky to find an accessport on ebay cheap (IIRC paid about £200 for it), you just download the maps from their site and upload them to the device. You can also get other tuners to produce maps for you. Edited by the-norseman on Saturday 17th May 17:33
