If you see the article I authored there is a butt-testor weight device Porsche provides to dealership service departments to properly calibrate the 'off' setting, there was nothing for the back on setting that I am aware of.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I have a 2 yo so I need to be able to turn off the airbag. Dealer says parts/labor will be $600-700. Does anybbody have any input... aftermarket??? how is it done??? were is theswitch???

POST 2Original post

I had my dealer throw it in on the deal the switch is on the right side das hwhen you open the door and is operated by the key. It is a simple on off.I thought the car should have that option standard and the dealer agreed. It seems to work just fine i tried a baby seat and took my 2 year old for a ride she had a blast but would feel better with her in the back seat of an SUV . It will work in a pinch.. R/

Have you done a search of this website? If so, you likely would have turned up the Article on the installation of this item. Check the Articles section and you'll see what I mean. The quote you received sounds high as compared to what I was quoted from various sources.

POST 4Original post

Thanks K-Man-S I'm just learning how to use this site. I searched the forums which didn't turn up anything. The artical section was just what I needed. Thanks again....

POST 5Original post

Why do you need a switch; the car turns off the air bag automatically with a child in the passenger seat.

POST 6Original post

because the 'auto' feature is based on certain criteria like weight and you might want to have it off even if the auto feature says it is off, or if the auto feature wouldn't turn it off otherwise. I concur the need is not very often, but nice to have an on/off/auto switch so you are in control if you want/need to be.

POST 7Original post

very interesting just had a quote from my opc 350 pounds for just the key de-activation ,what intrests me is that i didnt realise it shuts of automatically ,what is the maximum weight before it switches on again .

POST 8Original post

I was told the auto-off range was 25-100 lbs US. Off at 25 lbs, on at 100 lbs. If you see the article I authored there is a butt-testor weight device Porsche provides to dealership service departments to properly calibrate the 'off' setting, there was nothing for the back on setting that I am aware of.

POST 9Original post
