Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

In request to the growing number of cayman owners having problems specifically related to the clutch, slave cylinder, loose pressure plate bolts, shifting mechanism, etc, etc...i am starting this poll. If you are one of the lucky cayman owners with a problem, please post the specifics and how it was resolved by Porsche. If it becomes obvious that there are a high percentage of cayman owners with this problem....i am sure Porsche would want to know. Please post the last 6 digits of your VIN in your post too.

ok...ill go first..

.......R&R Transmission, Found loose pressure plate bolts. RE installed bolts tourqued to 17ft. pounds per porsche tech. line. Applied lock tight blue to bolts. Test drove, clutch is now o.k.
FP NUMBER 986-116-237-00 Clutch Slave Cyl Warranty $0.00
my VIN # is 781893
RedRocket,
Would itbe worthwhile to see how many are NOT having problems (e.g., No, shifting OKto date) for comparison's sake? I would like to be able to estimate that say 1in 5 (20%) of us are having these problems. That may also provide useful info for Porsche. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with Swampcroc. Have a 'Yes, I've had problems' choice, and a 'No, I haven't had problems' choice. Have everyone list their VIN# regardless of a yes or no answer. This way you'll be able to find out if the problem lies within a certain VIN# range.

The 'no' to problems could be misleading. It could be a real 'no' or it could turn out to be a misleading 'not yet'. Seems like just keeping this as a simple register of problems is more useful.
Yes I am having the same problem. Have taken to dealer and their first response is I may need to pay for it because it may not be under warranty. Not what you want to hear about your $78,000 car with 2200 mile on it. I hope tomorrow they come to their senses.
I am taking my car in tomorrow ,1650 miles. My car has a burning clutch smell, and first and second are starting to get a little knotchy. Let see what they tell me. I am taking copy of the NHTS service bulleting titles.
Any one has a copy of the complete servive bulleting?
The advisor had no interest in the service bulletin. I assume they already have to have it.
They did a lot of different small items I took it for, but claim everything with the clutch was up to spec and fine. I hope I am not stranded in another 600 or 700 miles.
Anobody has had the clutch smell, only on the outside of the car,? What has happened, if anything?
just waking this thread up at the suggestion of RussK...
just an fyi...my cherry is still shifting beautifully after having the bolts tightened. it feels like the transmission gets smoother the more i drive it.
