Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Replace cam sensor as well' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect battery' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Also disconnect the the terminal 30 jump terminal after disconnecting battery.

If I had the intake monitor out,, I'd replace the AOS, with a UAOS(Read the thread its got a couple tweeks on some cars.) , have the starter tested, and the alternator,

Do everything that PT3 mentioned plus replace those O-rings.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Noticed some spots under my car coming from bank 2. Toward the very back of the car. This was the best pic I could snap. Any ideas? Will need to clean and investigate further i know.
The thing thats covered with oil is one of the scavenge pumps. The first thing to do is clean it up well, and dry it off (just the cover - the whole area). Then run/drive the car and you should be able to see where its coming from. I think there is/should be a gasket under the cover - change it and torque the bolts to spec.
I think
@De Jeeper
covered all the bases. The scavenge pump is unlikely to leak that much suddenly where as the AOS has multiple sources for potential leaks.
Part #6 on early 2003 models and previous ones has an "overpressure valve"/" blow-off valve" built into it...If there is excess blow-by it can cause oil to be blown out the valve and drip down....
To know if you have excess blow-by, do a blow-by test as shown here...
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...w-by-test.html
What to do if you have excess blow-by causing oil to blow out the overpressure valve ::::
1. Rebuild engine with new rings/cylinders that have minimum blow-by..
2. Plug overpressure valve like is done on later 2003 and 2004 models...but install the UAOS with Track drain to handle the excess blow-by and accompanying oil..
Option 2 can give you more useful life out of your engine before the inevitable rebuild becomes a must...
I believe you are correct. Took out the intake and a lot of crud collected on that elbow.
is there anyway to replace this easily? Coolant hose and AC lines are in the way.
This job is a pissah. Not to dissuade you from tackling this, but youll need to remove that 2 inch coolant line and catch around a gallon of fluid. Also disconnect the the terminal 30 jump terminal after disconnecting battery. You will need to move the old stiff wire loom out of the way too.
Do everything that PT3 mentioned plus replace those O-rings. I replaced my cam sensor as well.
Since it is so hard to access otherwise.
If I had the intake monitor out,, I'd replace the AOS, with a UAOS(Read the thread its got a couple tweeks on some cars.) , have the starter tested, and the alternator,
I'd have the injectors cleaned or order a set..
Once your that deep you can play now or pay later..
Unless your just talking about the intake air box...
Once I got the part it was less than an hour all in and I only needed to remove the airbox. Tight as hell and scuffed up my hands.
the valve on the old one was pretty plugged up. Pretty sure this was the culprit. Will report back.
