I cleaned both plugs(driver/passenger), cleaned the grounds….as long as I don’t clip the seats belt to the receptacles, light stays off.
Leading evidence: 'Clean grounds….as long as i don’t clip the seats belt' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). -used my icarsoft PORII scanner to clear the code and it is now gone
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Seatbelt clip is throwing my airbag light, so changing the drivers side. Seat undone, turned on its side, but how the heck do you unplug(release the blue plug!!??!) I cant figure out how it releases.
For reference, this is the new one
Walked away and went back in today. When you release the wire harness(in picture) the plug comes apart. There is a small square clip that slides off to expose the blue plug from the side. It slides out sideways! Replaced with new plug, light is off.
Plug apart(you can see in my hand the side latch that releases the plug)
Seat belt plug slides out
Can you post the part # of the receptacle you used? I got a used one I thought would work (to turn the airbag light out - I used to have the one from my original seats plugged in - which worked - but I sold the seats, so it went with them) but it didnt
So, light came back on and I know the replacement I bought was good. Part #99680318302
Still comes up with drivers side fault, so trying to figure out what is wrong if the seatbelt clip isn’t the issue.
I may just put my old one back in, if you have interest in the replacement one I bought?
The light wont just go out u need to clear it with a good scanner that can read the srs module. If u have a durametric u can do some diagnostics to see if u reads the seat belt engauging
There was a TSB on this. If just replacing the receptacle doesn't work, Porsche sells a kit to replace some other wiring and connectors.

I cleaned both plugs(driver/passenger), cleaned the grounds….as long as I don’t clip the seats belt to the receptacles, light stays off. I tried just connecting the passenger only…..light comes on
I’m not seeing what a new wire set will provide. My Icarsoft keeps showing the same fault code(drivers side receptacle). Why would the light come on if I only connect the passenger side, if the drivers side is the issue? Black electrical tape is looking more temping everyday😂
Will try Deoxit in the receptacles and see if that does anything. Seems from reading that there isn't a clear fix, just several different things that have/haven't worked for people.
I ordered and received the kit from FCP, but I can’t find instructions which is in a TSB noted by many? Does anyone have a copy or is there a tutorial somewhere I’m missing?
Now I’m a bit perplexed. The plug has a ground set-up on it. 1 plug(blue) attaches the buckle to the harness, the other part of the plug has a jumped ground and it jumps to another wire in the plug which goes to the ground under the seat. But, those grounds don’t plug into anything in the plug itself?? What do those grounds plug into in the plug?
Could really use some help with this. I tried it as shown above, I clear the code and it comes right back(with a weak seatbelt light...that's new). I soldered the original wire that comes off the plug to the ground(piggy back on the ground) and the same with the airbag light, but the seatbelt light shuts off when buckled. I'm just not getting from what's in the kit you buy, what or how it's to be used. Black tape is looking better and better.....
No personal experience on this exact repair but what the kit does, is provide better contact between the leads that come from the belt receptacle and the appropriate leads in the main wiring loom. It does so by providing gold plated (gold oxidises waaay less quickly than the original, probably zinc plated) contacts and providing necessary grounds from spots closer-by than originally in order to reduce voltage drop through length of cable or corroded contacts that is mistaken for an open switch in the belt receptacle and switches on the airbag light.
HTH a little.
Any thoughts and help are appreciated. The weird thing about the kit are the items in it aren't all used and the sizes don't match up. I wonder if the wiring kit covers Boxster & 996 and there are some differences in the plugs/wiring. Still don't understand what the brown jump & ground are supposed to plug into? Maybe, again, it's a generic plug for different seat options? I'm documenting with pic's all the different ways I'm doing this, so when fixed there will be a straightforward tutorial(again, surprised there isn't).
I bought a used seat belt clip, but still the same issue when it's plugged in. I bit the bullet and bought a brand new one, so when that arrives, I'm hoping with new wiring and new receptacle, that will do the trick.
Finally, light is out!
I used the noted kit above:
-cut the four wires that lead from the control unit under the seat that plug into the seat belt receptacle
-if you look on the plug, they are numbered 1 to 8
-note which wire corresponds to which number(I used a piece of painters tape and wrote the number)
-using the new plug in the kit, plug in the four new brown wires, they solder them to the appropriate numbered wire and shrink wrap the connection
-I didn't use the ground wire I noted above in the kit
-installed a new seat belt receptacle
-re-connected the plug
-used my icarsoft PORII scanner to clear the code and it is now gone
