Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I wasn't that excited about another 996 -- spent a decade thinking the 996 wasn't for me based on our prior car -- but when I test drove the C2/6sp, I didn't want to get out of the car.

I just wasn't using the car enough to justify keeping it.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi folks,
I sold my 02 996 yesterday. I just wasn't using the car enough to justify keeping it. It went to a great gentleman who required hand controls, hence the need for a tiptronic.
I just posted a Durametric Enthusiast version in the Member to Member Classified section, so let me know if you want it. The tool is invaluable and will pay for itself after one or two code reads from the dealer or indy.
It's been a blast hanging out in the 996 forum (mostly lurking). DeJeeper's crusty responses made me chuckle, the petty fights were always amusing, and we won't even bring up Luis! I'll hang here for a while, so let me know about the Durametric.
I also have an indoor car cover (not Porsche specific, but fit fine over the car). We can always work out a package deal for both items.
Regards,
I am downsizing for now. With remote work I barely drive my DD, never mind a second car. At some point I'll pick up another sports car, but something a bit ( okay, a lot) less expensive to maintain. And, I'll need a stick shift for said sports car.
Curious if you've driven a manual 996. It's a pretty huge difference. My first 996.1 was a c4/Tip/Coupe bought almost new (CPO) back in the day. I didn't really like that car, but my wife loved it. Ten years later, my wife kept talking about her old 996, so I decided to get her another 996 -- this time a C2/6sp/Coupe. I wasn't that excited about another 996 -- spent a decade thinking the 996 wasn't for me based on our prior car -- but when I test drove the C2/6sp, I didn't want to get out of the car. Between 6speed (primarily) and 2wd, it was a completely different car. Our C2/6sp/Coupe is "lifer" car, will never part with it.
For something you only want to drive for grins and even then not very often -- Caterham! Pick up a newer one with a modern drivetrain and the maintenance should be minimal.
Bergs,
I don't know if you have enough posts to do a Private Message. If you do, PM me your contact info. If you don't, take a chance and post your contact info.
Thank you,
There is life after owning a 996, just not as fun on those nice weather days.
I still lurk as well. after all the years there are still interesting reads here, and yes some chuckles.
Rennlist has been a great place to sell your items left from ownership.
I was just cleaning cabinets in the garage over the weekend and found 3 or 4 more things list for sale.
Some pretty good people here on the 996 group
I paid $75 for it, so how about $75? I'm not sure where you are located, so consider shipping. It's light, but it may require a medium size box, depending on how much I can compress it.
