Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Carrying out some more clean up and protection work on my C2 today, the passenger side radiator appears to have the tiniest of weeps, not enough to cause any dripping and both radiators were renewed less than 18 months ago so should be in good condition. I’ve taken a photo, carrier has some corrosion. Is this a rubber fitting that it could be leaking from?

POST 2Original post

hard to tell from the picture but it could be. Also mot the rad fines are easily damaged from stones etc. hand one damaged myself

POST 3Original post

If it is weeping, then it is likely that the cooling system will not pressurise which in turn will lead to overheating.....or worse. Have you noticed a drop in the water level in the header tank? My suggestion is that you do a pressure test. If you have not got the tools, then ebay is your friend and you can buy a test kit cheaply. This will help you decide on where the leak is and if it is critical (or not). https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/31610488...teid=0&campid=&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks @martin t I’ve only had her 3 months, just working around her making sure everything is in order before I drive properly. Took her out twice when I first got her, both around 25 mile runs, all good with temp etc. this could have occurred as a result of those runs I suppose. Pressure test sounds like a good idea, especially if it’s a tiny leak to locate it. Cheers

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I suppose the easiest way to diagnose this will be to take front bumper off yes? I remember using Radweld years ago on a 944, that worked a treat is that something you guys would do on a 996? Wondering if it’s different being rear engined and radiators at front?

POST 6Original post

I can’t quite tell but that looks like the blanking plug for the vent hose. The rads are the same part, rotated round, with the vent hose installed at the top and the bottom port blanked off. If so, it should have an ear clamp or similar on it. See bottom left / top left in attached picture of left hand rad console.

POST 7Original post

Leave the car running on the drive for 20 minutes and create a situation where its getting over temp and the fans kick in. Look for any coolant dripping on the floor or steam coming from around you front wings. This is Porsche's method of checking if they're leaking or not.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So, I took her out for a spirited drive yesterday about 1/2hr nice and warmed up, back on the drive ticking over checked radiator, bone dry. Turned off, kept checking for another hr or so, nothing. So fitted a piece of paper towel under the spot that was wet before and left overnight. Checked this afternoon and the paper is just say damp but no drips!! Gonna take the front bumper off to have a proper look. Watched a few YouTube vids, seems straight forward enough, anything to be aware of??

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Did you manage to sort it @berni29 ?

POST 11Original post

If it's leaking, it's most noticeable when the engine and coolant are at their hottest as this is when the system is under most pressure. Hence leaving it running on the drive until the fans kick in (preferably at high speed). If it doesn't leak then, you haven't got a leak.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers @Alex ran her this morning till fans came on and all good thanks Taken the bumper and ducting off and cleaned out radiators all good. If anything looks like a tiny weep from the rubber bung/seal which has a jubilee style band on and nipped it up a bit as suggested by @tttc Result, cheers guys
