I got a set of rear 285/30/18s, with 7mm tread for £140 fitted for both tyres.

ok the time has come i need some new rear tyres. the wheels are original gt3 18" rims. the tyres on their at the moment are conti's 265/35/18 can i put any other sizes or brand on? its a 2001 996. also where is the cheepest place to get them.thanks for any help. regards nick

Seconded! My C4 had these on the rear when I bought it & the main thing I found was the incredible noise levels they generated. I fitted a set of Pilot Sport N1 all round (£660 fitted) and the difference is astonishing.

Nick give Monty's tyres a ring over in iver heath! you would be AMAZED at the prices. basically hardly used tyres in all brands for the 911. I got a set of rear 285/30/18s, with 7mm tread for £140 fitted for both tyres. they were conti sports N2s, lasted for ages, done a few track days and a ring trip and still going strong on the car with the new owner!!
