Also keep an eye on the ignition switch, I just replaced a primary and secondary on my Ford for doing the same thing regarding full key turn no starter engagement, a well known issue with that year Ford.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Planet-9: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Hi All, issue im having is i get in the car, insert key, press down on clutch and then twist the key right (fully) to start and it sometimes just goes to the oil measurement gauge countdown which is only supposed to happen when you twist the key right without the clutch down. It then asks me to depress the clutch. Which i do, start again and then normally starts up fine. ive had the clutch switch changed two days ago and after reading a forum but this hasn’t rectified the issue. ive read another forum saying it can be angle of wheel but ive tried various with no avail. thoughts or advice if you’ve have this be much appreciated. Scott

POST 2Original post

If the clutch switch has already been replaced, it may possibly be the starter motor? It may start intermittently, but will eventually fail. I have a 2007 with 70K miles and the starter had to be replaced in 2021. Purchased a new OE Bosch starter for USD $200 in 2021. Access to one of the starter mounting bolts requires access from the interior bulkhead with a long 3/8" extension. Verify fitment for your own vehicle... BOSCH SR0808N

POST 3Original post

Try getting in the car, putting the ignition in the on position, wait a second, then depress the clutch and start it. See if a procedural change up makes a difference. Also keep an eye on the ignition switch, I just replaced a primary and secondary on my Ford for doing the same thing regarding full key turn no starter engagement, a well known issue with that year Ford.

POST 5Original post

When you turn the key to try to start the engine, everything else works fine, like the radio, lights, etc., or everything seems dead (complete power loss..?)

Hi @ SJH91 - Welcome to P9! Hopefully we'll be able to get your issue sorted. Shorty, I'll move this over to the correct section as this is for new member introductions. Along these Iines, it's sort of a tradition here to make a quick and separate post in the New Members section (before asking specific tech questions) about yourself/your car -- and of course we LOVE car photos! Cheers and again...Welcome from the other side of the pond!
