Thank you, i actually did order some 02 Angled Extenders that move the sensor further away and to an angle that they claim will work, regardless I just wanted to confirm that not using any or having them in without cats or mufflers wouldn't effect the engine or make it run awful.

I understand I'll get a check engine light I'm also looking for a tune/ solution but want to know if it's safe to use the car until than?

Suggestion

Simple way is to use the O2 sensor spacers with the small cats built in, they will fool the downstream in to thinking its after a cat.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello I have a 3.4 Carrera throttle cable car with pre cat and down stream 02 sensors. I'm looking for information about the downstream sensors. I'm currently building building a strait pipe configuration and want to know the role of the secondary 02s? Do they just measure the cats? Will not having them plugged in cause the car to make any fuel / air adjustments or anything else that can effect or damage the engine. I understand I'll get a check engine light I'm also looking for a tune/ solution but want to know if it's safe to use the car until than? Any information greatly appreciated thank you.

POST 2Original post

Simple way is to use the O2 sensor spacers with the small cats built in, they will fool the downstream in to thinking its after a cat. Some even get away with just putting a spacer to push the sensor farther away from the exhaust tube.. Its just a cheap narrowband sensor that gives a cycling signal to the ecu..

I have done alot to the car and am looking for and at tuning options to tie it all together. I just want to continue to use it safely in the mean time. The Extenders will be here tomorrow but I'm not even sure l want to weld in bungs for the secondary sensors if they're not needed.

POST 4Original post

U can avoid the check engine light with the spacers (maybe). If u dont put them in it wont hurt anything just gives the code.

POST 7Original post

The 90 mini-cats worked well on the x-pipe I had for a while.
