Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As my 996 C4 transformation evolves the next milestone was to tone down the sea of gray interior . Plus the 8 way power seats the leather was over the falls . Being an " old school " guy I wanted something different but not crazy . Some of you guys have taken the same path with excellent results . About 30 minutes ago the upholstery shop said my seats were almost ready for pick up . Just need a final steaming and good to go . I pick them up either tomorrow or Friday as I have to work around the potential for rain . My car has a black exterior and I plan on adding red mirrors , red brake calipers and some red vinyl graphics . That red theme will now be carried over to the interior . Nothing crazy just subtle . I have changed the shift boot to black leather with red stitching . The seats are now black leather with red stitching along with the plaid center sections . The shop also built up the bolsters some and added lumbar support to both seats . I know this look isn't for everyone and that's ok . I love it . Here are some pics the shop sent me . I think they look great and can't wait to get them installed .

Props! Those bad boys are sweet! It’s a great way to intro the red accents going forward.

POST 4Original post

Love it. Golf GTI plaid is always a winner. The workmanship looks top notch!

POST 6Original post

Of all the tartan conversions I've seen this one is my favorite. I think it will look very nice in the car. Congrats!

Wow thank you for the kind words .

POST 9Original post

They look great and the upholsterer does top notch work. I had considered having something done in our family Tartan but it would clash with pretty much everything in my car.

POST 11Original post

Im usually not a fan of tartan inserts but this looks amazing. Well done!

Total was $5200.00 . I dropped off the seats to his shop . We picked the materials and he ordered them . He built up the bolsters with additional foam . Additional foam was added to the seat bottoms . And lumbar support was added to both front seats . I have never worked with an upholstery shop before but this guy was highly recommended . This was a lot of money for me as I am retired . But from the pics I will not be disappointed .

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just got home and unloaded out of my truck . Dodged the rain so now have to install them . Pics to follow .

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And they are in . Took me 2 hours as I took my time with all wiring connectors . Everything works and looks great . The extra foam and added lumbar support feels great . Looking forward to doing a long stint in them . My poor pic taking skills do not do them justice . They are stunning in person . Wife gave a big smile and thumbs up ................ not bad . Our 45th wedding anniversary is in 2 days and she still puts up with me .
