Suggestion

My guess is condensation but i'd be checking other tell tale signs such as monitoring coolant level and checking for and emulsion in the oil via filler tube.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone seen this before in a 996? The car was put away warm but seems like small pools of water formed inside exhaust tips and then burning off on start up causing white smoke. Could it just be condensation from warm exhausts when garaged? Oil fine etc (have just incidentally topped up coolant tank a little as recently drained and filled)

POST 2Original post

My guess is condensation but i'd be checking other tell tale signs such as monitoring coolant level and checking for and emulsion in the oil via filler tube.

Completely normal on a 996 this " mayo " in the filler tube.

POST 5Original post

Are the exhaust tips slightly angled up...? Could be condensation that naturally occurs pooling in the exhaust that one usually sees dripping from the pipes, especially during the warming up period.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not that I’ve noticed but that would make total sense, it was only during start up. my other concern was that the coolant was also just below minimum but have put that down to a fairly recent drain and refill end of last year and air pockets (No sign of any leaks). Since topped it up with distilled 0.5 litr to min when cold
