Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hello folks. I'm a relatively new owner of an 06 CS. After several months of getting familiar with the car, I decided to have some cheap thrills in a vacant parking lot. I attempted to switch off PSM, but the LED didn't light up, there wasn't a chime, and the PSM indicator lamp also didn't illuminate. I checked both PSM fuses, and they're ok. I've never received a PSM error message. But I've also never seen the PSM lamp illuminate during (mostly calm) driving. Have any of you experienced a bad PSM switch, or is this a sign of trouble with PSM itself? I'll be paying the dealer a visit soon... My apologies if this has already been covered, but I couldn't find any mention of it.

POST 2Original post

I do not Know if this will help? With mine i have found that i have to hold the switch for a short while (count to 10).then the light will display.P.S.M never fully disengages, when switched "off" it will just not interfere as much.....I'm sure you will find the topic well discussed on this forum,in much greater depth and with greater Knowledge than mine.....

POST 3Original post

That's weird. I have a 2008 and the PSM will toggle on-off instantaneously when pressing the switch. When turning off, I get the "ding" warning and the dash washing.

POST 5Original post

there ya go! I guess the darn ding is not working properly:beer:.Update on my ding.Upon reading the Gentlemans problem i went up to the shop fired the car up and pressed me button got the dash display but no "ding".Then this morning i discovered that it does not give the audible "warning" unless you have your seatbelt on.Which i found interesting. The seatbelt warning wipes out the P.S.M. WARNING. Thank God for the safety Gods! Just where would i be without them? Apparently wrapped around a tree with no seatbelt on.:hilarious:

POST 6Original post

It took three trips to the dealer, but they finally sorted out the problem. They replaced the switch, and that temporarily solved the problem, according to the service advisor. But when I tried it, PSM still wouldn't turn off. In the end, it was a bad wire connection between the PSM switch and the control unit. Nothing serious, but tedious to diagnose because there were no fault codes. Now I can autocross without the electronic nannies. Thanks for your replies!

POST 7Original post

The good news here is that your driving isn't so bad that PSM is on always!!

POST 9Original post

The car has such astonishing levels of grip that I really can't safely approach the PSM threshold on public roads.

POST 10Original post
