After a recent trip to Center Gravity that included corner weighting the car, I'm on a mission to reduce some mass. It weighed in at 1,515kgs with a full tank. The car is already on hollow spoke wheels, 997 sport seats and without it's CD changer. Removing the frunk contents and the rear seats is easy too. After that I'll probably have to start spending some cash but the cheapest will probably be removing the rear wiper.
Kill All Wipers no longer does the 996. Any suggestions for a sensibly priced, bolt in (so not a push fit grommet) solution? Any can anyone confirm the diameter of the hole that needs to be plugged? I've seen this on eBay but don't want to order something the wrong size:

Very helpful before moving off, and I wouldn't delete it.
It's the sort of option that I wouldn't add to a new car myself, but I'm perfectly happy to have it on the car.
Yup, that's on the list. Hopefully with the frunk contents, seats, diff and wiper I'll be able to save 50-60kgs. Getting to 100kgs from where I am might cost some £££s.
You have started this thread, but not stated why you want to remove some weight from your car. Is it to be tracked ?, therefore an advantage to remove parts of the car which some of us take for advantage.
I removed my rear wiper as I only use the car during drier months and prefer the cleaner look. I can’t say that I miss it. If I used the car more throughout the year it’d stay on.
I used a generic EBay one like the one linked above and it’s been fine.
It saves only 2.2kg though, it’s not a huge saving.

What’s the point? You’re messing around with a valuable car - the C4S models, in manual form especially, are on the up price wise, so why fiddle with it. Sell it and get something else; a 40 Jahre, a C2. Your cash your choice.

I removed the rear wiper, it looks rubbish and is pretty ineffective IMO. Trivial to fit back on come sale time.
