Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

09 987.2 BASE - I get this staticy/rattling noise whenever I go on long and/or short high rpm rides. It sounds like it's coming from left side but not sure. Don't know where it's coming from or what's producing it. It goes away after engine re-start. Car is fine otherwise. Any info or advise is appreciated. See link below. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Is that where it's loudest? What does the engine compartment intake on that side sound like (the vent/louvers behind the door..)??

POST 3Original post

Sounds rotational, like an occluded fan blade working against debris like a leaf

POST 4Original post

Yes! That’s where it’s loudest. I checked engine compartment and doesn’t sound like coming from there. Will have to replicate again and re-check again as well as vents. Funny how it only does it on high rpm drives..

POST 5Original post

That’s what I was thinking. Will have to replicate again and re-check. Funny how it only happens on high rpm drives though… thanks for reply.

POST 6Original post

After re-checking and replicating the noise, oddly enough it sounds like it’s coming from the top small speaker? Also maybe electrical? See pt2 video when noise is on and door is opened and closed vs pt3 video after re-start with no noise and door is opened and closed. Pt2 makes whirring sound as window closes. Bogles the mind……

POST 8Original post

Sounds like the window down/up action. This is a Boxster ? The window drops about 1/2" when the door is opened - to clear the cloth gutter in the convertible top.
