Hi everyone, Just wanted to know who you Texas people like to sell a car for you. My Buddy Bob wants to sell his 1985 911,dark blue, cab, with turbo Body but does not know who to trust. I live in Ga, so I can't do much, he is about 76 years old and wants something hassle free. He does not want to sell on Autotrader and have a ton of people come by. Would the dealership in Dallas, or Houston be a place, or is the there a major source even outside of texas that would buy his car out right.
Thanks for the help.
Best,
John
If he brokers it to avoid customer contact he will lose money, as long as he knows that then fine. Me? I'd put it in Panorama, Excellence and here too. A Porsche enthusiast would love that car. He can interview potential buyers, determine who really is serious and perhaps whittle the showings to three people. Giving it to a place like Streetside Classics is always an option if he can't find the right guy and make a deal, I'd try first though.
PS My car is from Park Place Porsche in Dallas, my experience with them was great, they might buy it but you know any dealer will need to steal it.
Thanks Boristhespyder. I love the body style and think it is a beautiful color. I will tell big Bob. I don't think he wants to make a super home run on the car. Just time to roll it out as he no longer has much use for it. I can't wait to see how this goes.
Put it on bringatrailer.com, he can get their upgraded service where they send a photographer to take the pictures for the auction. The site tends to bring the highest price.
Ortho, what is the % taken by BAT, just curious.
No percentage charged to seller. The seller only pays the listing fee of $349 with professional photos or $99 if you submit your own. On your friends Porsche the professional photo will net him more than the additional $250 cost.
They charge a 5% fee to the buyer capped at $5000. The benefit of the site is the number of people that visit it regularly, and it is global. Also quite a few dealers buy on the site if they have clients that want the car.
I sold my M3 on it 1.5 years ago. Car sold on Friday afternoon and the buyer was in my garage Saturday night with a cashier's check. I also bought the car on the site and it was an easy transaction.
If you do list it there it is very important to answer questions during the auction. Sellers that engage potential buyers sell cars at higher prices.
