Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reported cause
On my SLK 55 there were lots of CAN BUS issues that were traced to the Pedal commander so I got rid and all was fine.
Leading evidence: 'pedal commander' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'pedal commander' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean maf too' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

You can also try disconnecting the MAF and go for a drive to see if it still does it.

Sorry for the slow update, I unplugged it and its been fine since, rather strange as its been fitted for around 1 year and I left it on red 5 setting, got to at least once a day it would go into limp mode, it will still accelerate but very slowly, I much prefer it with the sprint booster fitted though, temped to re try it on a slightly lower setting?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I removed it and the problem went away, back to normal.
Had sprint booster fitted for some time
Now and love it on my .2 996, always left it on red 5 as it’s where I think throttle should of been from factory, past week it’s kept putting the car into what I am only describe as a limp home mode on longer journeys, hardly any power under foot when it happens but soon as I stop and re start the car it’s fine again, anyone experienced this before and a remedy if so?
Never experienced this and I've run them on several cars including the 996. Have you contacted the manufacturer..? I've got their email address at work and can pass it onto you tomorrow if that'll help..?
Email this guy, Stamatis Boulekos, he advised me on which model to fit to the 996. I had 1 fitted to my 987.2 Boxster which obviously was a different model.

He may be able to help.
I'm guessing it's nothing to do with your sprint booster, but your ECU doing it. ECU thinks's there's a problem with the engine so puts it in to limp mode to avoid damage. Can you override the booster or switch it off and see if it still does it?
Main culprit is you MAF giving an incorrect reading. If you disconnect that, it puts the default map in the ECU. You can also try disconnecting the MAF and go for a drive to see if it still does it. Yellow engine light will be on but that's fine. This would be my 1st option to diagnose what's going on.
Interesting, I fitted mine a while back, its a great mod for the 996. +1 to Alex's idea of turning it off or unplugging it and going back to stock throttle to confirm if its the SB or something else.
I'm surprised you run red 5 all the time, I find it to jerky for the road. I've settled on green 3 for daily driving. I've not taken it on track yet (that's coming), I'm saving the red modes for that
Bin it off. I had the same issue on my 997 Tip, with a Pedal Commander, so I got rid of it.
For the most part, these things are good, but they can sometimes interfere with the CAN BUS.
As I said above, I think they're great, and I've used them in several cars, including my SLK 55 and, lately, in my 997 Tip. They're a fantastic mod, the Pedal Commander more so than the SB in my experience, but if there's ever a problem with it and the diagnostics point to a throttle or CAN BUS issue, get rid of it before it causes permanent problems. Ask me how I know.
I was pressing the throttle but it felt like there was a blockage; a MAF problem, a restriction, so I plugged in my Durametric and it came up with a throttle sensor issue or something like that. I removed it and the problem went away, back to normal. On my SLK 55 there were lots of CAN BUS issues that were traced to the Pedal commander so I got rid and all was fine.
These throttle things are designed to manipulate the signals from the throttle to the ECU. They're great but sometimes the electronics of the car “says no”

Quick question, have you ever used the coded accelerator lock function ..? I tend to switch it off when she's ticked away in the garage and depending on my mood, change the settings to either sport or race.
