Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Before assuming the worst, try it with AC on and off. Sometimes a failing AC clutch can cause a tapping noise.

Yes it does, exactly. What is it?

POST 10Original post

Don't want to ruin anybody's evening but that does sound a bit like the dreaded. Any oil consumption?

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 2693466

Per the Youtube video, this ended up being a broken valve spring . Rare issue though.

Mines sounds like this, much louder tho, what was the procedure to fix, thanks https://youtube.com/shorts/2Uff27DP

POST 13Original post

Bore score. If the noise has always been there but has been getting louder post winter, what you hear there is piston slap. Sooty tail pipe, increased oil consumption? If yes, stop driving it and figure out your next steps.

Sounds like a heavier knock than mine unfortunately. Mine was a broken valve spring/rocker which is quite rare apparently. As punchdrunked said check for black sooty tailpipes and increased oil consumption.
