Greetings Plaent-9 community,
Im looking at a 2014 991.1 S being sold by a non-
Porsche
dealership and it has the following entry in the carfax at 3200 miles:
Work performed at
Porsche
dealership
Maintenance inspection completed
Air filter replaced
Battery serviced
Camshaft(s) replaced/repaired
Antifreeze/coolant flushed/changed
Cylinder head gasket(s) replaced
Engine removed to complete repair
Oil and filter changed
Ignition coil(s) replaced
Engine/powertrain computer/module checked
Tire condition and pressure checked
Vehicle washed/detailed
Computer(s) checked
Engine compression checked
A/C refrigerant recharged
Spark plug(s) replaced
I contacted my local Porsche dealership to see what they knew and was informed:
This event (early on in its life) was found to be a broken valve spring on cylinder #2. It took some time to diagnose, hence the work performed, but they finally narrowed it down to that being the issue and then had it resolved. Here are some photos.
He did provide 2 photos of the broken spring. The car now has 18500 miles so a tad over 15k since this happened and concerned that perhaps not enough miles have been driven since. Im a newerish Porsche owner and would appreciate feedback from those willing to provide it. Thanks in advance.

15k miles should be plenty to identify any other major problems. If you like the car, get a PPI and go for it.
%^#$ Carfax. I'm sure mine indicates the car has never been cared for, I have a box of receipts to the contrary. Also, if you were in certain kinds of accidents not involving another vehicle and paid your buddy the body-man in cold hard cash Carfax would never know.
Appreciate the feedback. Over the past day or so I found myself lucky enough to get the opportunity to purchase a very similar 991.1 with nearly half the miles and a 2yr CPO for basically the same price as this car. Very excited!
Congratulations on a great buy!

This ^ Happened to a friend who bought a Z3 with a clean Carfax. Turned out the rear of the car had been crushed up to the rear suspension but was repaired by an independent. Don't trust a clean record!
