2002 911 Carrera last owner gave it a beating now I am trying to get it back to good health. Changed trans oil cooler, all rotors and pads. Full detail. Car looks good but it has a coolant leak on top of the motor. I can't see it from the trunk but I can if I lay on the floor behind the driver rear wheel looking up I can see a part leaking. I don't know what that part is. What's my best option to learn of the components and how to access them? Do you recommend any book, Site, Or video? I have experience working on cars but this is my first Porsche and already love it. Thanks in advance.
Hi Mr. Lopez. If you look towards the end of this post, there is a download pointer to the 966 workshop manual. May help you. BTW, if not done yet, I recommend subscribing to the ******** forum in addition to this one. You may also google for the parts catalog in PDF. May also help locate components. And how much it's going to cost you...8<)
Good luck with fixing your car.

Thank you Snakebitten , every bit of info helps.
It was the oil separator that had to be replaced. What a hassle! But with some "I can" attitude I did it. Since the intake manifolds had to be removed I noticed oil was leaking. Which was the next thing I was going to tackle. Lowering the engine made all the difference in the world. Now to fix a convertible button that got pushed in to the dash. The duck wing is the next want.

thank you for the info. I appreciate you taking the time to try to help me. Have you done a differential fluid change? I was told it would take almost 3 quarts but I took out 1 and that's all I can out in. Any thoughts?
Yes but my car has a PDK. This means that the differential and gearbox share the same lubricant. You can not only replace the differential lubricant.
To replace the lubricant for both, you need to drain both the gearbox and the differential through two different drain holes and then you need to pour in 3 liters of oil. I have attached the sections of the workshop manual that describe how to do this. It is important to do the 399035 procedure AFTER refiling the gearbox and differential to make sure that the lubricant level is right. Just refilling will not suffice.
