Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

The PCM1 is quite dated and many thought not very good in the first place so probably not worth the hassle of getting it fixed.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2002 996TT which is fitted with a PCM1 and Bose which is now giving me some trouble. The navigation CD drive seems to have developed a fault and now the screen has gone blank although the radio still works. The PCM1 is quite dated and many thought not very good in the first place so probably not worth the hassle of getting it fixed. I would prefer to keep the car looking as original as possible and was wondering what the alternatives might be for a more modern double din unit that would work with the existing Bose set up, and more importantly look like it belongs there. I am sure that many have done this before and would welcome suggestions and any recommendations for places in the west country that could do it. Many thanks Richard
