Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello, I have a carrera 3.4 cable car and as of tonight my key was hard to remove. Once I removed it the accessories were still on and chiming. Took an hour to get the key in and get home. Once it was in and started I had to wiggle it to get the headlights to come on. So I'm replacing /repairing asap. However because I cant leave anything alone, and love to spend massive portions of my life figuring out how to do unnecessary often meaningless things. I'm contemplating doing a push button starter with a hidden kill switch, fire/ toggle sequence something similar or ridiculous. So I'm looking for some information on the key pill, how it transmits to the Imobilizer. The start process from key inserted to running etc. Is it proximity to something else in or around the ignition or is there a circuit of some kind completed with key contact? If I install a push button starter I want it to be just that. I'm not wanting to use my key and than push a button. In the past with other vehicles I have worked through similar issues by permanently placing the key pill in the vehicle according to where it would work. Example inside the column on a superduty so that PATS ( Ford Security) which was located in the IC module and picked up the key/signal through a receiver near the ignition cylinder. Doing that the vehicle could read the pill as it normally would and thought the key was in and start. So I'm looking for knowledge/ basics on how that process works on my car, a 1999 Carrera cable car. How the key communicates to the Imobilizer to start the vehicle etc. Appreciate any info thanks!
pretty simple. There is a pill in the head of the key. When you take the plastic trim surround off of the key cylinder, you'll see a black plastic looking lip. This is the transponder receiver ring. it will have a two wire plug to it. Take the pill out of the key, tape it to the inside of the transponder ring. Now you could start the car with a soup spoon pretty much.

As a safety measure, I ziptied my transponder ring with pill in a hidden but easily accessible location. If I want to have some theft protection, I snip the ziptie and take the transponder ring with me same as you would a key. Obviously don't lose it.
