Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Accelerating hard in 3rd and 4th to the red line I've now three times had the Check Engine Light flash for 5 seconds at me. Is it my car telling me to slow down? Or is it a faulty MAF, coil pack etc etc Usually with a faulty MAF (one that needs cleaning) I get a permanent CEL indicator not one that flashes at me. Damian Migration info. Legacy thread was 116953

POST 2Original post

With a MAF the light usually comes on and stays on. Migration info. Legacy thread was 116956

POST 3Original post

your car knows the future prospects  Migration info. Legacy thread was 116958

POST 4Original post

I think you would notice a coil pack - it shouldn't be accelerating smoothly. Migration info. Legacy thread was 116963

POST 5Original post

hell yea slow down ! that message "check engine" is fairly obvious ! MAF, as a faulty coil pack means the car would be very poorly.... and what ever Ade means dont get a Mk1 GT3, Mk2's are the way forward Migration info. Legacy thread was 116992

POST 6Original post

not unless it's a special Mk1  Migration info. Legacy thread was 116996

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Under hard accelerating the light flashes immediately after a misfire, not a dangerous (bang) type misfire more a stutter and it's make to normal. Yes.....I'm running on V=Power Yes.....I've got a Fabspeed CAI Yes.....The filter's still clean.....just about! So I've cleaned the MAF and I'll give it another go!!!!!!! What's this about GT3s? I'm confused I'm after a 997 C4S cab in SY with black wheels so I can coiffure Sundeep's hair on trackdays  Migration info. Legacy thread was 117035

POST 8Original post

Sounds more like a coil pack than the MAF. But excellent choice on the 997 - sounds like a great spec! Migration info. Legacy thread was 117039

POST 9Original post
