Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My oil pressure was jumping around but at open throttle and at idle it was fine. Replaced and new readings were steady but will not go above 4 Bar when driving and 1 Bar at idle when hot. Replaced again and now all is well; 4.8 Bar at WOT and 1.5 idle when hot. Just goes to show newer parts sometimes don't fix the problem.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Both were Part#: 996-606-203-03-M100. Porsche OEM, both made in Germany.

POST 4Original post

Yeah these are known to fail but surprising to be misbehaving from new. I just got mine from FCP so I get a new one for free when this one fails eventually.

POST 5Original post

Thanks for sharing. I currently had/have the same exact issue with my 996. The pressure gauge was jumping all over the place. I replaced mine with a VDO manufactured oil pressure sender as well and didn't jump around anymore but it would only hit 4 bar. I was thinking it was the instrument cluster but I'll go ahead and replace the sender again.

POST 6Original post

They are a VDO manufactured part IIRC, and its been years since VDO made anything of quality...
