Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

With Softonic, it really puts the control in your hands...meaning it isn't a permanent change necessarily and it's a simple process.
Leading evidence: 'Replace necessarily and it's a simple process' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace necessarily and it's a simple process' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Porsche comes out with model A as an example and the power is increased for various changes on that model such as a.1 or a.2 etc.

What are the side effects that can happen when using softronic
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

As a former Softronic owner, there was no difference other than a better throttle response...
If it were me, I would go with something more like
Softronic
which you can do (and undo) whenever you want, at home with a laptop.

Welcome to Softronic.us
Maybe none - I don't know . . . do you have any info or link on the chip and who produces/programs it? Softronic also allows you to make some modifications similar to what Sport Chrono does, if you don't have Sport chrono already. It also doesn't require getting to the actual DME, which I assume your chip requires.
I searched on ******** and Renntech for any info or references to "OE Tuning" without success; that would make me a little wary, but maybe they are known on some other websites or marquees.
The numbers they quote for expected gains in a 3.8 997S from their "OBD flash" are less than what Softronic offers, and the price is only about $100 less than Softronic, who is a well-known Porsche tuner.
If you decide to go with the OE Tuning product, please report back with your experience (since you may be one of the first to use it).
A Benz forum organized custom dyno tuning days for Jeremy from OE Tuning to visit South Florida and I brought the turbo. He did a good job on my Cayman and he knows his stuff since he travels all over the place and had just come back from doing tunes in Qatar. He would be the only tuner I would call on the next car.
Metzkaro, if you have doubts that his plug-ins would work, go by OE Tuning because they should be real close to you… the shop is in Van Nuys.
How would you know if it is a good work? I had a "tune" that they just turn up the fuel mixture, and the sports function. I did not know until I dyno the car. I eneded up with Softronics.
Cheap can be very expensive! Softronics is a known quantity, the other one could be good, or bad.
Nobody knows OE (?) -- Why would you trust your car to an unknown. Softronic is the Gold Standard and done by a real Porsche expert and master technician. The 3 hour return drive after the install is just what your car needs to adapt to the new maps.
I know I am going to get flamed for this, but save your money. If all you are going to do is chip it, or go the Softronic route, with nothing else, you will not see/feel any meaningful difference. At most you will get 5-8 HP. All the 20-35 HP claims are simply untrue. As a former Softronic owner, there was no difference other than a better throttle response... that's it, any difference is so small that you are not going to "feel" it.
If you want to add the sport chrono, just go to your dealer and get the real thing... especially if you have a Tiptronic/PDK. I recall Scott mentioning that the Softronic tune does not affect the transmission shift speeds, but that is just from memory.
Again, on a NA car, software mods done by themselves are not worth it. I even did the Softronic Plenum package too, same thing there.
If you do nothing but a re-flash then yes you will only get 5-8 hp increase which is not noticeable but the addition of sportchrono is noticeable. Didn't know a dealer could add sportchrono after the fact.
I did headers, exhaust and plenum and added 35 hp. I did it in steps with dyno run to check what each thing did. Car actually makes too much power now and I'm have trouble getting it to hookup for autocrossing.
EVOMSit does a decent tune also and are reputable
I have their tune on my car and it feels slightly punchier, smooth and no issues.
EVOMSit Intelligent Tuning
I ordered the Softronic ECU Tune for my '05 C2S after much research.
The published HP gain for the 3.8 is from 355 to 389 bhp. You can read the info at the Softronic website (
Porsche 997 Carrera ECU Flash Tuning « Softronic ECU Flash Tuning
). Of course, you can augment that by additional mods such as exhaust, CAI, etc. With Softonic, it really puts the control in your hands...meaning it isn't a permanent change necessarily and it's a simple process. That is the little bit of comfort that convinced many folks to take that route as opposed to other solutions. Plus, there's always their performance history, reliability, and reputation.
Ultimately, it comes down to what you're really looking for and your comfort level. Best of luck!!
I'm not sure what you mean by long term effect...??? Software is software, it doesn't change or morf into anything other than what it was created for in the DME. Time has no effect on it.
Porsche comes out with model A as an example and the power is increased for various changes on that model such as a.1 or a.2 etc. Black gold or plat editions. Unless the engine displacement is changed or engine design, the increases are software related.
Basically what Softronic does is it goes directly to the last possible rev or set of changes that had been kept in reserves for the future for the NA engines.
what do you mean by reserves for the future? And is it better to have this done after the manufactures warranty is done or does it matter? Does it matter if I do it or take my car to have someone else install the software?
A lot of your questions (current and prior) could be answered if you searched a bit. The whole point of Softronic is you don't need to take your car to someone (unless you really don't want to touch your car).
I decided to go with Softronic when I decided to flash my GT3. My only mod, other than the suspension, is the Europipe 100 cell cats and exhaust. I like the idea of be able to return to the stock flash whenever I want with the Durametric cable. I purchsed a second DME on Ebay that I can play with while I keep my original stock. I also like the Durametric diagnostic software that comes as a side benefit.
The first thing I noticed from the flash was no Cel from my 100 cell cats. The throttle response is much smoother. The car pulls harder in the power band but I will know better after a post dyno. Right now, I am a very happy camper and I can't wait to get it to the track Monday.
