They replaced the discs/pads on my car along with other small things. It is not true that they do not check the cars before resale.Spoke to a chap last weekend at the Concours at Pangbourne that has had 3 cars from Camtune, and hasn't a bad word to say about them.I can only speak as I find. They also have a very good reputation amongst Porsche Club G.B.members

Apparently they don't even check the cars they get in before selling them on, so you may never know what you are getting.

Suggestion
Not a lot to go wrong with the conversion apart from the headlights sticking down or up - I imagine it is the same set up as a 944 assembly, with a rod running between them to prevent 'blinking'.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
28 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I think a flatnose is just a case of replacing front wings, bumper and bonnet. Nothing under there in a 911 that could be affected reliability wise.
Biggest worry (after headlights) may be looking like a pimp from an eighties cop movie

Dom, Steve,
Thanks for this. So, problems with my image rather than the car right? Not sure what my image is so 80s undercover pimp could be an improvement
It's good to hear you're so chuffed with yours Steve. You're not.... no, never mind.
Much as I'd like to I can't do the 23rd (away on business) which is a damn shame not only because of this meet, but it's near Camtune and they have a little red number on their website. I'll keep an eye out for a future meet. Thanks for the offer to email you directly Steve; if you don't mind I'll take you up on it and get the lowdown on this model.
Cheers
Kevin
Kevin,
Hate to burst your bubble but that is my car that is on the Camtune site, obviously havn't updated it!I have had the car about a month.
Regards
Steve
Just noticed this thread and noticed it was you Kevin, how are you mate?
Actually during 1991 or so my dad got hold of one of these; supposed to be a present for my elder sister but she wrote off her car at the time and was banned for a year so it had to go. It was ours for only a about three months. Was a LHD turbo in burgundy with cream leather. It actually looked really good but I recall everyone who drove it mention that it was a scary bastard. I never drove it, only 13 at the time!
Got it from LHD dealer friend and returned to him again. I always thought that was a factory car! But I do recall that there were some RUF badges and it was from Germany. Maybe RUF did the conversion??? I just remember it as always being referred to as the "flatnose 911". Liked them ever since, even though some do look really ragged now.
Didn't own for long but can see it being a problem child. How comes you like all my favourite cars? Great minds and all that?
Oh, and still impressed with you driving BTW!
Steve - Noooooooo. Well all I can say is you lucky b@stard
I've been salivating over that (your) car for a week. The only other one I've seen for sale is a factory flatnose. Forty + grand. In white. I don't think so.
Will obviously have to settle down and be patient, which is a bit of a bugger because I don't 'do' patience.
Hi Ninja! From all that's gone before, can't say it really surprises me that we like the same cars
. I think these flatnoses look the absolute b******s. Scary eh? The 360 scared the cr@p out of me when I first got it and still does when it's wet. Bet the handling of your 355 gets 'interesting' then too.....
I posted the videos to you & Manu yesterday, so if you haven't already got it, it should arrive tomorrow. Enjoy! I have, lots of times.
Cheers
Kevin
Thanks for the video, have been looking forward to it for the last few days, probably arrive tomorrow. Can't wait to hear the soundtrack of 355 v 360 in the tunnel. Very kind of you to make a copy! Thanks.
Steve, I have to agree with you, and you haven't even seen his driving style (fast and very, very safe!). His nickname "Jammy" is so well suited! Oh, Steve your pic link doesn't work. Would love to see a pic of your car.
Regards
Thanks for the link. What a lovely car, brings back lots of memories, had the same wheels as well!
Steve, where is the meet? Would love to come to the meet if its relatively close to London (lazy bastard me!).
Regards
Ninja,
It's quite close to London,The Parrot Inn,Forest Green nr. Dorking,Surrey at 1.30pm.
See the topic 'Porsche meet/Drive' on the Porsche page, for further info/map.
Regards
Steve.

A garage near me have two Flatnose Turbo's, it may be the one you mentioned. One is a factory, the other they thought was also a factory job, but has turned out to be a convertion. Both are in white. They're at Slades in Penn. Is this the one you mentioned?
Gavin
Thanks Gavin!
It sounds familiar but I can't find the ad now. Found Slades website (are they MG?) but the cars aren't on it.
Thanks for the info.
Cheers
Kevin
I think you must have the page in your cache memory. Here is the new link to the cars for sale at Camtune and no metion on your 930.
www.dealers.motortrak.com/fastcgi/gdlist.mp?template=/camtune/hitlist&dealer=19492&pn=2&starthit=0
You could say that! The old one I believe was more professional. Seems as though they have farmed it out to some other hosting company as from the URL it would suggest they do other compnaies as well. Still interested to hear Domster's comments about them.
I can't divulge too much about the Camtune dispute on a public forum, but basically an owner of a 3.6 T2 purchased from Camtune wasn't overly happy with them. Apparently they don't even check the cars they get in before selling them on, so you may never know what you are getting. He was sold the car with a few things awry, and he had to push Camtune to get them sorted out.
I can only say that Camtune have been very good to me.

Fair do's... the 3.6T2 owner in question may have had a bad experience with them. His name is Greg Watson if ever anyone wanted to bring it up with Camtune to hear 'their side' of the story.
The facts I posted were simply as Greg relayed them to me.

They used to be allmost exclusively MG, but got taken over about a year ago and now do lot's off exotica. Last time I was in there they had F355 F1, F355 Spider, 512, two Diablo VT Roadsters, GTD40, various Rolls, Aston/Lagonda, a few classic's and the Porsche's. I don't have a web site, but there e-mail is [email removed] or 01494 812115. They're normally quite a friendly bunch and will talk cars for hours.

Dom,
I have to say that there can be obviously be some people who have bad experiences with garages(thats the motor trade for you).I will have to see how they shape up in the future.
Regards
Steve
Yeah, we'll just have to keep an eye on them! That's the beauty of these forums... if we don't get a decent service, we can warn others of our bad experience. Ultimately everyone has to make up their own mind, but I noticed that Rennlist had a thread criticising Micheldever Tyres recently (started the chap who was complaining about Camtune!) and I had to second the motion. Some people swear by 'em, though (not *at* them, like me!).

Are there any specific problems with this variant? I understand that most of them are after market conversions. I really do prefer the look of this version over the standard 911, but I'd like to know if it's likely to be a problem child before taking it any further.
